Nokia, Warren Buffet and Crytocurrency

By Nelson Pinto 18th September 2018

“For he who resisted change, was soon forgotten”- Anonymous

What is the one common thread between Kodak and Nokia? They were both oblivious to the fact that change is like a tall wave; He who dares to ride it comes out as the Master of the Tides. He who resists is engulfed by the seas.

The technological landscape has been changing rapidly. It seems like only yesterday, that the world was introduced to the nascent BlockChain technology. Today, we are already witnessing the applications of the decentralized ledger in various industries. At the center of it all, is the virtualization of currency and the way we perform commerce.

“Bitcoin will do to banks what email did to the postal industry.” – Rick Falkvinge

And I do not disagree. Well, nor do I agree. There is a strong possibility that Bitcoins will disrupt traditional banking and the way we evaluate our currencies. However, Cryptocurrency is also making way for newer businesses and banking systems. The new system will have more transparency and liquidity due to the nature of commerce. There will be a heavy shift in the Global Macroeconomics and a significant impact on local businesses.

In the wake of these advances, businesses both local and global, are opening up to the idea of accepting payments in Cryptocurrency. Expedia, an online travel booking site has been accepting Cryptocurrency as a valid form of payment. Another addition to the travel booking website is CheapAir. Retailers like McDonald’s have started accepting Bitcoins as means of payment in jurisdictions where it is legal to trade in cryptocurrency. Entry of Global Giants like Microsoft will soon encourage many small businesses to realize the change in commerce and jump onto the bandwagon. The trend, however, was started by online retailer Overstock.com, which started accepting Bitcoin as a mode of payment as early as 2014.

“Stay away from it. It’s a mirage, basically” – Warren Buffet

The adoption of Cryptocurrency does not come without its reservations. Lack of knowledge, gaps in existing commerce processes, resistance from governing bodies and the sparse distribution of the currency itself, are some of the roadblocks that the evangelists of cryptocurrency are trying to tackle at the moment.

Albeit the roadblocks, Cryptocurrency is making substantial progress; More now than ever. And we are excited to be part of the change. JungleWorks has opened its doors for the cryptocurrency. We are now accepting cryptocurrencies as a valid source of payment for all our services. So if you have some bitcoins to spare and a dream to fulfill, reach out to us at JungleWorks.com and relive the growth that you witnessed with the currency itself.

To keep this note short, I would like to conclude with a line from the iconic Think Different campaign which talks about changemakers, the ones who dare to ride the tide:

“Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

As of September 18, 2018, JungleWorks is officially accepting all cryptocurrencies as a mode of payment for our services.
